Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg says he wants to play Sid Meier’s Civilization live on Twitch and believes no one could beat him. He made the comments in an interview at Meta’s Connect event, saying he is close to “grandmaster” level in the game. At the time, he did not yet have a Twitch channel.
Zuckerberg has long linked Civilization to his path into tech, saying the series helped spark his interest in engineering and that he was playing when he learned he had been admitted to Harvard.
The next entry in the series, Civilization VII, was scheduled to launch on February 11, 2025, which likely added to the attention on his comments. Twitch is a live video platform for games owned by Amazon where creators broadcast gameplay and chat with viewers.
