Microneedling for hair and beard
Benefits of Microneedling: Stimulates hair follicles, enhances blood circulation, and promotes absorption of hair growth products.
Microneedling can be very effective for hair loss treatment when paired with Minoxidil and other products.
Allow the skin to heal between sessions.
Applying too much pressure during microneedling can traumatize the skin. Use moderate pressure to avoid unnecessary damage.
Replace microneedling tools after a certain number of uses (8-10 times for the Banish 2.0).
Even with proper sterilization, needles can become dull or bent and harbor bacteria, which can harm the skin.
Derma Roller
Dermaroller: Commonly has 192 to 540 needles. Recommends using the 192-needle version to avoid additional superficial tearing caused by the 540-needle version.
Unnecessary Scarring: Dermarollers create wide, crater-like scars, which are not ideal for promoting hair regrowth. Effective microneedling should cause minimal trauma and target deeper layers without causing surface damage. Dermarollers are less effective for reaching the hair bulge area and can cause more scarring compared to other devices.
Pain: Dermarollers are more painful than automated pens due to their rolling motion and longer needle exposure on the scalp. Automated pens provide faster, perpendicular needle entry, making the process less painful and more efficient. The pain from dermarollers can disrupt consistency in treatment, which is crucial for hair management.
Hair Plucking: Dermarollers tend to pluck out hair, especially in people with long or curly hair. Automated devices reduce the risk of hair getting stuck and plucked out. Additionally, most dermarollers on the market have shorter needles that require frequent sessions, potentially causing more hair damage.

Derma Stamp
It is manually used and has needles on the head that can be adjusted in length from 0 to 3 millimeters. Prefers this device due to its adjustability and minimal skin trauma.
Perpendicular Perforation: Reduces skin-related side effects compared to the diagonal perforation of dermarollers.
Before use: spray with isopropyl alcohol then rince with water?
Use: Stamp gently three to four times per area without applying too much pressure to avoid bleeding.
Stamp the device firmly on the scalp or beard, focusing on thinning areas.
Aim for about 1,400 microneedling wounds per session (approximately 10 stamps per area).
After use: again spray with isopropyl alcohol then rince with water?
Start with a 0.5 mm needle length two to three times per week, gradually increasing by 0.25 mm per week up to a maximum of 1.5 mm, ensuring skin tolerance.
Avoid applying Minoxidil immediately after microneedling; wait six hours to prevent irritation.Regularly check needles for damage or rust, replacing the device every three months.Consistency is crucial; use the device for at least three months alongside Minoxidil for best results.
The dermastamp is preferred over the dermaroller due to its adjustability and minimal skin trauma. While the dermapen is more consistent, it is also more expensive.
Derma Pen
Dermapen: A motorized microneedling device, which is effective but expensive and covers a smaller area.
Microneedling for face : acne scars, anti ageing
Microneedling stimulates collagen production and enhances the absorption of skincare products.
Stimulates collagen production, aiding in the treatment of fine lines, wrinkles, stretch marks, melasma, hyperpigmentation, and scars.
Enhances the absorption of skincare products by breaching the stratum corneum.Safe for all skin tones as it doesn’t generate heat, reducing the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Benefits of Microneedling:
- Stimulates collagen production (Collagen Inductive Therapy).
- Enhances the absorption of skincare products by breaching the skin’s upper layer.
- Reduces fine lines, wrinkles, and pore size.
- Improves acne scars and pigmented scars by promoting collagen production and breaking down scar tissue.
Sunscreen is crucial after microneedling to prevent sun damage and worsening of hyperpigmentation.Apply SPF 30 or higher the morning after microneedling.
Microneedling is not recommended for active acne, rosacea, eczema, or people with a history of keloid scars.
Avoid using microneedling tools on active pimples, wounds, psoriasis, or eczema as it can spread infection and worsen the condition.
